2007 TVG NEWS
November 2007
- The Vine Group Awards Scholarships to ten Students at The University of Ghana. Presentation was made at the Ghanaian Mission in New York.
- TVG donates another 20-foot container of over 5,000 textbooks to Olabisi Onabanjo University at Ago-Iwoye. Funding for the shipping logistics was made possible in part by Martin Lawrence Foundation and Olabisi Onabanjo University.
October 2007
- American Association of University Women - Allentown, Pennsylvania Branch donates thousands of books to The Vine Group. The members of the association are particularly impressed about TVG's Poverty Reduction through Quality Education and Gender Equality Mission.
- Other campuses of Long Island University joined the Brooklyn Campus in Book-drive for The Vine Group.
September 2007
- New York University joined other major Universities in book donation to The Vine Group's Project. Over 100 boxes of books containing about 2,000 books were donated to TVG's book drive.
- New School University supports TVG. The Graduate Faculty leads the book drive efforts with over 1,000 books and scholarly journals donated for onward transmission to Universities in Africa.
August 2007
- North American Airlines airlifted hundreds of books to Meneye School in Accra Ghana as part of its contribution to TVG's Poverty Reduction through Quality Education and Gender Equality efforts. The airline also airlifted about 1,000 books to Interlink International School, Ibadan, Nigeria.
- The Vine Scholars gathered in Ibadan, Nigeria to perform their Annual Community Development Service in elementary schools. This is part of the condition for TVG's annual scholarship award to indigent students in various universities.
- Professional development was provided to staff of Interlink International School in Ibadan, on how best to utilize newly received Mathematics, Science, and Language Arts textbooks donated by TVG.
June 2007
- The Vine Group donated a 20-foot container of books to Interlink Polytechnic, Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State, Nigeria. The institution is located in a remote area of the State to provide post-secondary education to those who ordinarily would have been unable to travel outside their communities for such an education.
- North American Airlines airlifted hundreds of books to Olabisi Onabanjo University in Nigeria in support of TVG's efforts of promoting quality education.
2008 TVG NEWS
February 2008
- North American Airlines airlifted hundreds of books to Ghana and Nigeria. These books were distributed to Meneye School, Ghana; Olabisi Onabanjo University; and Mekhi Phifer Research Center at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Nigeria.
- The Vine Group's President, Professor Henry Akintunde, made a formal presentation of donated books at Olabisi Onabanjo University. These latest donations were dubbed "The Osilesi' Reference Collection". While addressing the University Senate and Government Representatives at the ceremony, Professor Akintunde advised that students should have free access to the materials and should be used for instructional purposes by the faculty as well.
- Professor Akintunde met with the Vice-Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Professor Olufemi Bamiro. They both had an initial discussion regarding TVGs possible assistance to the university in the areas similar to those provided to other universities in the country.
March 2008
- University of Ibadan formally applied for The Vine Groups assistance in the area of book and equipment donation. The request was approved and plan is underway to ship a 20-foot container to the university by May 2008.

April 2008
- Economics, Social Work, Anthropology and Sociology Departments of The Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University begins a Six-Week long Book Drive for University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
May 2008
- The Vine Group is scheduled to host a Black-tie Affair on May 10, 2008. A $200,000 Capital Campaign for the completion of Mekhi Phifer Research Center at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Nigeria. The facility will provide high speed internet access to train thousands of underserved students in Nigerian universities. EVENT LOCATION - ANTUNS, Queens Village, New York. TIME - 8PM - 1AM.
